Phase III of the Western Delta Route ("Phase III West")
Progress Update
Phase III West is an approximately 38 km closed system expressway with a total of six lanes in dual directions. It is connected to Phase II West in Zhongshan at its northern end and extends southwards to the highway network in Zhuhai. It commenced construction in Dec 2009 and is currently planned to complete earlier by first half of 2013. The currently planned total investment (including interest)* for Phase III West is RMB5.6 billion. HHI and its PRC joint venture partner will each own an interest of 50% of Phase III West. The joint venture company signed a RMB3.93 billion 18-year project loan agreement in Apr 2010.
Importance of the Western Delta Route
On completion of the three Phases of Western Delta Route, an arterial expressway system directly linking Guangzhou, Shunde, Zhongshan and Zhuhai will be created. Furthermore, the Western Delta Route together with Guangzhou-Shenzhen Superhighway, Guangzhou Ring Road, Phase IV West and the HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge will form a complete loop of expressway network connecting all major cities in the PRD region including HK and Macau. |

Phase IV West (Non-HHI Project) is a 15km with total of six lanes in dual directions expressway, linking the Phase III West to Zhuhai. It is also known as Zhuhai Section Branch Line of Western Coastal Expressway. It is owned by Guangdong Provincial Highway Construction Company Limited (the joint venture partner of HHI for GS Superhighway and Western Delta Route) and Guangdong Communication Enterprise Investment Company. |

HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (Non-HHI Project) is connected by ancillary roads linking the Phase IV West. According to latest media reports, the commencement of project construction started in Dec 2009 and the bridge will be opened for use upon completion by 2016 |
